What are some of the requirements.

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello, all. I'm seventeen years old, going on eighteen, and I just recently graduated from high school. My goal is to become a hospice nurse, but I just feel so overwhelmed, I don't really know where to go, you know? For one thing, I was homeschooled for all of my highschool years, so I don't know for sure what kind of special requirements I'd have to meet to get into a nursing college. Also, I live in North Georgia, and I wasn't entirely sure as to which college would be the best to look into. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would suggest calling the schools and setting up appointments to see what the steps are (as every school is different and every situation is different). I didn't go back to school until I was 27 and I felt the same way you did...overwhelmed. But trust me, going in and talking to a counselor to figure out your plan of attack would make it seem so much easier to you!

I'm not sure on the schools. All you can do is figure out which schools offer the Nursing Program and compare them and see which would work best for you. I am a wife/mom/full-time worker, so I had to make sure I went somewhere who offered classes at night and part-time.

Good luck!! And don't feel overwhelmed - it's not as bad as you think!! Just get your ducks in a row and you'll be fine!

Thanks so much. I'm going to start looking into them as soon as possible. Currently, I'm working a full-time job at the local Stein Mart (I really need to make some money for college and everything), so I'm trying my best to find the opportunity to visit the campuses and get ahold of the counselors. I've heard that the local Emory and Georgia Tech were good ones to look into, so I think that I'll start there. ^^
