[Ok...what I am about to suggest may give you a sense of what to prepare for the NCLEX...

As a TWO TIME first passer (NCLEX-PN and RN) and an individual with (former) test anxiety, here it is: The keys to becoming a competent, entry-level nurse (what the NCLEX is measuring) are as follows:

1. Safe, effective care;

2. Health Promotion;

3. Physiological Integrity

4. Psychosocial Integrity

BEFORE you even THINK ABOUT RETAKING-please please PLEASE look at why your WEAKNESSES are!!! Don't pay another DIME until your questions in your weak areas are above 70%; the higher the percentage, the more reding and chances are for passing the exam.

Remember to identify WHAT the question is ASKING YOU; you may get a question about the respiratory system and a particular med; however it may be asking about Health Promotion, or is it Physiological Integrity??? What is the PRIORITY? It makes a HUGE difference in knowing what scenario is presented for the best answer. :yes: In preparing for the NCLEX, what is your weaker questions? What are you struggling in the 4 key areas above? Focus your studies on the questions you find that you have a struggle with, then review the rest of the key areas.

As far as what sources; I used several sources: LaCharity, Saunders, Lippinicott; The Success Series, Exam CRAM, and NCSBN for the dress rehearsal as sources for review and questions; I had test anxiety, so I knew I had to prepare myself for key reminders, and then reviewed questions and would prepare myself by creating mock NCLEX exams; I would review 75, then 135, then 205, then 265 (for RN). I wanted to get a feel in if I had to go the distance. I also used deep breathing exercises prior and during the exam if I felt my nerves were getting the best of me. I also hid the time so that I wouldn't get nervous or feel pressured to finish.

No matter what source you use for questions, it is going to be up to YOU on how to approach the questions, and if one is approaching the question for the BEST answer. Take the test at the best time of the day for YOU. Eat well prior to the exam, follow all the instructions by the test proctor. Hope this helps! :up:
