What online schools accept LPN for Nursing Informatics degree?

Published

I am an LPN and have been working as an Informatics specialist for over two years now. I would really like to get a nursing informatics degree but everywhere I check requires an RN degree to be accepted. Does anyone know of any online schools that accept an LPN into this program?

While there might be one out there, I doubt it. Nursing Informatics is a nursing degree -- at the Master's level. No Nursing Master's Degree is going to accept someone who does not have some kind of undergraduate degree in nursing. (Though there may be some direct-entry Master's program for people with BS degrees in other fields that would let you focus on Nursing Informatics. But I don't think that is your situation, is it?)

However ... there are "Informatics" degrees, "Computer Science" degrees, "Information Science" degrees for people who are not nurses. You could start with an Associate's Degree in one of those fields or a Bachelor's Degree. I don't know how well they would match your career goals as they would not focus on nursing. But if you are determined to not get an undergraduate degree in nursing, that might be your only way to go.

If you want to work in hospital IT, plenty of MSIT, MSIS, and MSISM programs are available with healthcare concentrations. I went to NYU.
