Mine is very bland! tabacco/jaundice colored walls with a tacky sun moon border and a bulletin board I update occasionally. We don't have great heating or air...so most of the time my door is closed. Which makes for a sad school nurse so most of the time i deal with the fluctuations in temps.

Do you have posters? Do you have paintings? What kinda stuff do you hang up?

Just wondering! Thanks!

For those of you with older kids do you hang posters...everytime I look at the ones in the teacher stores I think those are way too babyish for my grown up 6th graders! What do you do?

When I was a school nurse, I worked in an elementary school. I rotated posters seasonally, that reflected health issues for the season. for example, sun safety in the spring.

I would suggest looking into propaganda from the AHA. They offered free posters. So do many other organizations.

HTH!

:D

I decorate every month or so with assorted themes. I am in an elementary school.

I start off with Healthy Habits, Move on to Tissue Smarts, Flu Facts, Some years I do Heart Health, Dental Health, Nutrition and Warm weather Smarts. Last year we had an entire day devoted to Japan so I did a wall decorated with Japanese contributions to medicine.

I use a combination of posters as well as photos I take of the kids demonstrating what I want to illustrate or a comment they make. Many come in and ask to be on the wall. It's become quite popular. I laminate the pictures before I hang them. The kids can take them home when I take them down.

I also have one entire wall filled with 8x10's of my photography. Flowers, Abstracts, etc.

I have a small table of childrens' books to read while the kids are holding their ice packs or resting for headaches and belly aches or waiting to be picked up.

To the OP: Have you asked to get your heating and cooling fixed? That does not sound like a pleasant place to work.

sure getting the heating and cooling fixed would be great, but we are building and new facility and so most things will just be pushed off like anything that isn't on fire or things like that!
