  1. I get 12 sick/personal days off a year. I work as many days as the teachers although I leave early on parent teacher conference days. On professional development days they usually have something for us as well or we go to local school nurse workshops.
  2. I decorate every month or so with assorted themes. I am in an elementary school. I start off with Healthy Habits, Move on to Tissue Smarts, Flu Facts, Some years I do Heart Health, Dental Health, Nutrition and Warm weather Smarts. Last year we had an entire day devoted to Japan so I did a wall decorated with Japanese contributions to medicine. I use a combination of posters as well as photos I take of the kids demonstrating what I want to illustrate or a comment they make. Many come in and ask to be on the wall. It's become quite popular. I laminate the pictures before I hang them. The kids can take them home when I take them down. I also have one entire wall filled with 8x10's of my photography. Flowers, Abstracts, etc. I have a small table of childrens' books to read while the kids are holding their ice packs or resting for headaches and belly aches or waiting to be picked up. To the OP: Have you asked to get your heating and cooling fixed? That does not sound like a pleasant place to work.
