What medications are legal to take for pain?

Hi everyone,

I currently take Tylenol or Motrin for arthritis pain but it doesn't always work.:eek:

My question is first, what pain medications are legal to take while at work (celebrex, amitriptyline, ultram, etc)?

And second, is it legal to take narcotic pain medication as long as you are not at work? I only work two 12 hour shifts per week and I am not sure if it is legal to take a narcotic while I am off work if my doctor prescribes it.

Basically, I don't want to do anything illegal or that jeopardizes my job or patient safety.

this isn't something we can really answer here on the site, each state is different and probably better to talk to your PCP about it.
