Thanks countrynurse09. Do the state DD facilities usually use med aides to pass meds or do they use LPN's for passing meds?
Are most of the residents DNR or full code? Do they use RN's as charge nurses or do they have LPN's as charge nurses? What do you think are the main differences between working in a LTC facility versus a DD facility? Thanks
At my facility LPNs pass all meds. My RN DON is our only RN and she only signs the paperwork lol. The LPNs do everything. Most of the clients are full code, but are fairly healthy. As far as differences, the dd clients are generally more stable, and the work load is lighter. On the downside,.much of my work is basically admin. chemical restraints. I miss the ltc residents and the conversations we had.

I am going crazy at the LTC. Is a state DD facility better? I just want to be able to get the supplies I need to actually do my job. I am thinking of looking for a night shift position at a state DD facility.
