hello,
I have been browsing through threads and came across some that were helpful but I needed more clarity on my question. I have a BS in Public Health and I am interested in becoming a Public health Nurse. I have been going back and forth with where I should be and where I should go and I am now at a Community College taking science courses. I am feeling that I need to get my Bachelor's in nursing instead of an Associate's. So my question is, to become a public health nurse should I get my BSN and then my MPH?
I hope someone can help me so I can get on with my degrees. I'm so frustrated.

In California, if you have a BSN and did a public health nursing clinical, you are automatically eligible to be a PHN. All I had to do was fill out the application for the certificate, have my school fill out a short paper, send those along with $75 and my official transcripts to the Board of Registered Nursing in California, and BAM! I'm a PHN.
The director of our program told us it would be silly NOT to do it, since we already completed the coursework for it for our degree. Who knows when you might want to use it down the line...
Obviously this is only for California, I am unsure of how it works in other states.
