What to do before job starts???

Published

I graduated with my BSN in August and passed my boards in October, but my job doesn't start till May, so I am trying to figure out what to do until then. I have to relocate so I will probably move in April. That leaves about 4 months. It's scary that my first nursing job won't start until 9 months after I graduated from nursing school. I already feel like I am forgetting everything I learned! Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do until my job starts? I've been working as a nanny and would like to continue with that, but I think I need something in addition to that. Any ideas?

I had such a long gap because I graduated in NJ in which they just AREN'T hiring new grads I feel like... and so I finally just got up and moved to Houston where I was offered 3 positions within about a month or 2 of being here!

Well welcome to Texas! Texas has a huge nursing shortage it appears, even still. There are maybe 3 or 4 people in my graduating class that don't have jobs yet and all but one of them are either pregnant or just delivered and are waiting until May. I guess nursing is not economy proof!

I was looking in NJ (and NY) too. We graduated at the wrong time and the wrong place! LOL I'm relocating to Maryland where I was offered a job in the exact unit I wanted.

Good luck in TX!

Yeah after moving all my offers were for the exact unit I wanted as well... That NEVER would have happened in NJ!

Good luck to you as well!!
