What is the job outlook for AMNP at UAB

I wanted to know if anyone could provide any info in regards to job outlook after completion of the AMNP program at UAB (I'm interested in specializing in nurse anesthesia pending approval in June). I've read other threads in which people have commented that employers do not want to hire a new graduate of a direct entry program because of the lack of experience regardless of your degree. However, being that the master's portion is part-time, distance education, couldn't you gain that experience while earning your degree thereby making you marketable after graduation?

I just don't want to spend money and invest time into a program and I wouldn't be able to get a job in the field.

Thanks in advance for any responses!!

:nurse: Hi,

I live in Birmingham, and have my Masters in Elementary Ed. and am also interested in the program. I emailed one of the persons listed and she emailed me and told me about a seminar held each Wednesday from 12:00-1:00 at the Nursing Building Room 1029. I am torn between a two year RN program vs. trying to get the other needed prereq. done for this AMNP program. It is a lot of time and study and money to invest, but I would hope great benefits when finished. Go to their website, there are tons of specialty programs. Good luck. I plan to attend the seminar myself this week.

Thanks!! Same to you! Believe me...I have literally stalked UAB's website. I am in Savannah, GA, so I can't attend the informational session. I will be enrolled in FIVE classes this summer to finish all the prereqs (pray for me...lol) so I can apply for spring admission 2013.

:nurse:Wow, it sounds like me! I will have to take at least 4 classes myself, perhaps at two different campuses! Good luck to both of us and lots of prayers!:saint:
