Who is hesi to detrmine and tell me weather i am ready for nclex. I was under the impression that i was paying my university to get me ready for the nursing or per say nclex. When nclex gives us unlimited chances to take their tests why are we being limited to a couple by hesi. HESI is nothing but equivalant to kaplan. Just like kaplan, hesi should or is good only for our review or say prepare us for the nclex ,but it should not determine whether we can graduate from the nursing course. I can agree to the fact that hesi can tell me my strenths and weak points , but it cannot tell me that i can not graduate.

As I understand it, HESI can't tell you anything about graduation. Your institution sets the requirements. Passing the HESI may be one of those program requirements.

Specializes in no specialty! (have to graduate first!).

My school does things a little differently. We take the HESI as an exit exam, but unlike many other schools, it won't determine whether we graduate or not. How it works is we take the HESI, if we pass with a score of 900+ we automatically get a 100% of the final. If we get less than a 900, we have to take the final. The HESI is not factored into our grade in any way. It just determines whether we are exempt from the final or not.

I'm sorry to hear that there are so many schools that don't let their students graduate if they don't do well on the HESI.
