Do you have a goal of where in nursing you want to find a job? There are people with work gaps all over these days because of COVID, that may not be as much of an obstacle as you think. If you want to practice bedside and you feel you might not be prepared, there are some online refresher courses you can look into, whether you have the money to invest in them might be a different issue, though. Because you have a few years of experience in pharmaceutical and med device, maybe an education type position that incorporates some of the knowledge you acquired there would be helpful. The good thing about nursing is there are so many areas available, and right now nurses appear to be in high demand in many of them. Good luck with your next steps!

I received my BSN in 2010 and got a job on a Med-surg floor in 2011. I worked there until 2014 when I resigned (unhappiness/burnout/toxic work environment) to work in an Aesthetics MedSpa. I enjoyed the atmosphere but took a paycut; so after a year I got a medical sales job. I worked in Pharmaceutical sales then Medical/device sales, with a few different companies, from 2015-2019. It had its ups and downs, definitely paid better.
Now for the last year & a half I haven’t been working.
I’m now looking to rejoin the workforce and deciding which path to take. I have the period of unemployment against me, which seems to be an obstacle with sales especially; how do I overcome that? I feel like I’ve forgotten all of nursing school and working as a nurse(last at bedside in 2014; could I even get a nursing job again? If I wanted to get my masters but my bachelors was 10 years ago, could I still get accepted to a program?
Any advice, thoughts, similar experiences, tips, suggestions would be appreciated!!
