What should I (fresh NG) know before starting my job on a surgical heavy unit

It's med surg but very heavy in the surg. I work in an ortho hospital so lots of that and they do a lot of bariatric procedures as well. 
 
do any of you experienced nurses have tips for me? Time management or things to look out for I may not have thought of? I will be taking a *** ton of patients so anything will help!!
