What should I expect from an anatomy lab?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

This past semester I took a chemistry lab course at my University. It was fairly easy and did not require hardly any additional preparation or studying. Next semester I plan on taking Anatomy at my CC. Will the anatomy lab require additional studying or will it cover material from lectures? What does an anatomy lab typically look like? Any tips or recommendations for this class would be greatly appreciated!

(At my CC anatomy and physiology are separate semester long classes)

How easy or hard the course is will largely depend on how it is taught as well as your own foundational knowledge and ability to grasp concepts.

I didn't find either chemistry or A&P particularly easy, but nor did I find them particularly hard. They were both time consuming (A&P moreso) to study for but I was interested in the material. Anatomy tends to be a lot of rote memorization, so if you are good at that, you will probably find the course easier than some one who struggles with memorization.

Thanks for responding! Memorization doesn't come easy for me. I learn better through understanding concepts and processes as opposed to memorizing facts. I'll just have to work harder in anatomy. Thanks for the tips!

So if it's anatomy, you'll be examining the physical structure of the body. So you'll probably look at a variety of prepared tissue slides to see the difference in the types of tissue, you'll probably also look at the brain, the eye, a kidney, a whole organ system (ie rat dissection). It's so hard to say what you'll learn because my experience was so different - we have A&P taught together over 2 semesters. So we did a rat lung dissection and then hooked them up to a water siphon system to study how pressure affects the act of breathing. But that's A&P not just A...

ETA - you should probably prep for lab by reading through the lab objectives & proceedures before you go to lab.
