What do hospitals look for in CNA applicants?

Published

I now work for a nursing home, but would like to transfer to a hospital within the same company. I keep submitting applications and resumes, and the hospital keeps sending me reject E-mails, saying they chose someone with better qualifications. Better qualificatons!? I have a bachelor degree, and a year of experience for freaking sakes! Do you think they feel I am unfocused and over-educated, since I have a degree and am still working as a CNA? I had my Mom who has worked in HR for 30 years look at my resume, and see had no suggestions for improvement. Can anyone clue me in on what exactly hospitals look for in their CNA's?

i need a pro's help. i've been a cna for 12 yrs,in nyc in the bronx. i relocated to florida. the state of florida wants me to tke out the cirtificate again,ok but i think its a waste of time. i want to go to a school to be an lpn please instruct me on what to do. i am so sad right now,i feel like i am wasting so much time in working in housekeeping that is a back breaking job.

i'm not sure what you mean? are you saying they want you to take the class and the state test again? i believe that with experience you can call around your area and find out where they test at, and you can challenge having to take the whole class again. you just go take the test and it's about $100...i believe. i hope this helps...
