Just wondering if any hospitals are hiring new grads right now? I'm open to pt/ft and would do days or nights, and I'm not really picky about what unit i'm placed on I just want to get my foot in the door. Also, if anyone knows of upcoming internship/externship programs coming up in the area please let me know. I've heard a lot of hospitals like Grant are requiring you to go through one of their programs before they will hire you into ER or ICU. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it. My work has offered me a PT home health position but I'm just not interested in it. I just really want to work in a hospital.

OSUMC has a new grad program, but it's very competitive. most people who are hired into it are pca's (aides) there before the graduate. they probably have information on their website about it. I think it's twice a year summer, and winter. You're probably too late for the summer program, but could apply for the winter one.

Ohio Health has a program for new grads who want to work in Critical Care and they also have one for Medical floors. You don't have to go through the program to work on a medical floor but if you want a little refresher it is a good idea. If you go through the Critical Care Fellowship you are guaranteed a job in critical care but not necessarily the unit you want, especially if several want the same unit. You could also check on Regency Hospital which will get you some drip and vent experience so you could transfer as an experienced RN. Good Luck!
