:nurse: our hospice is considering hiring an lpn perdiem . can anyone tell me what lpn's are not allowed to do in the hospice setting in the state of ohio or where i can obtain this information? can an lpn initiate, monitor, titrate, discontinue a pca pump that is infusing subcutaneously? does anyone use lpn's for call in hospice? if so, does the lpn have to collaborate with the rn with all things or just specific reasons? thanks!

visit the ohio board of nursing for your questions about lpn responsibilities. in the southwest ohio area, i have never seen an lpn in any of the hospitals i worked in..they were phased out.....stupid, stupid, stupid...i, personally, would like to see them all come back.

check out the dayton ohio hospitals..i believe that i saw some lpn ads for hospitals there.

if you want to work in kentucky, some of the hospitals use them...try st. elizabeth....its easier to find work as an lpn in kentucky hospitals. we had them on nearly every unit at the facility i worked at.

good luck.:nurse:
