What is the #1 healthcare problem in the USA?

I have to agree with most everyone in that the problem lies in America's own motivation to have none. We're fat and getting fatter...and it's all for one of two reason's either we all over eat when we're depressed (unlikely), or we're not being educated sufficiently. I for one lean toward the latter. Should we expect children to just "know" and learn on their own without some sort of guidance? They need to be TAUGHT not baby-sitted! I am appalled at our public school system which now-a-days (not to mention a few decades ago as well) is the greatest contributor to our country's lack of direction. Not only do they continually teach the "evolution psuedo-science", but they have next to no rules...NO RULES! If YOU followed no standard rules while performing your job, would you be aiding yourself, the patient, and the hospital (or place of employment)? I think the answers would be a unanimous no. Of course you more than likely would somehow benefit yourself but the patient is not guaranteed full assessment everytime and the hospital will have no idea how to track the progress of each patient for shift changes and...I think you get the point. It is the same for students. Their "job" is to learn. If they are not told to shut their mouths in class (for example), how will they benefit?-or their peers?-or their community in the long run? Bottom line - THEY WON'T. But enough of my ranting...I appologize. :rolleyes: All that to say, if we want a responsible nation and community, maybe we should be responsible enough to TEACH from the start. (NOTE: obviously, when I say "we" I don't mean nurses...I'm referring to those running our country...and more specifically, those running our schools).
