What happened to all the hospitals?

I currently live in California, but I was raised in New Jersey and family still resides there. I am considering moving back to my homeland, but some recent events are making me reconsider. First of all, what happened to all the hospitals? Barnert, PBI Regional, Greenville, Saint James, Columbus, Mountainside? Any more on that list? In basic med/surg, what is the average number of patients you have on your list?

In North Jersey, they were really hit by hospital overload. Then when the new Medicare regulations went into effect along with the economy, more charity care and the inability to absorb it, a lot of hospitals were running in the red and were forced to close down over the past couple of years. Too many hospitals too grouped together with too many options for consumers. The market was just overloaded.

Barnert - Closed

PBI - Merged with General, later merged with St. Mary's

St. James - Closed. ER services under St. Mikes as a remote campus

Columbus - Closed. ER services under St. Mikes as a remote campus

Mountainside - Still there.

Pascack Valley - Closed. ER services to reopen under Hackensack.

Union - Closed. ER services under Overlook as a remote campus.

Muhlenberg - Closed. ER services under JFK as a remote campus.

Greenville - Closed

There are a few that have been closed for some time like...Irvington General, United, Riverside. There are more down south, but I'm not sure of the names.

I think that should be fairly accurate....any others you have questions on?
