What happen to patient care?

I don't have time to give the patient care I want to give. I'm on a very busy oncology floor. The patients are on so many meds I feel like all I do all day is give meds(day shift). How do you give good patient care when you don't have enough time even with 12.5hr shifts?

I expect you have a pct who works with you as part of your team. The pts have to have their meds especially on an oncology floor, and I imagine the PCT's do majority of the washes which unfortunatly when you are busy does tend to fall to the responsibility of the PCT. You are in the early stages of your career, and time management does improve as you move through the years, and once you are quicker with everything else you can help more with the personnal care of the pts.
