In preparation for hernia surgery, especially involving the groin area, hair removal might be part of the preoperative process to reduce the risk of infection. Here's how it typically works:
Follow the specific instructions provided by your healthcare team regarding other preparatory steps, such as showering with an antibacterial soap. Again, do not shave yourself. Traditional razors can cause small cuts that increase infection risk due to the risk of micro-cuts and infection.
Hope this helps. Best wishes,

If male patient was getting hernia surgery, do nurses shave all the groin if patient request full shave versus partial shave if that is what they prefer? Should patient be given any recommendations to help with process if that complete shave is appropriate. Thanks
