What to Expect as a Telemetry Nursing Assistant?

Greetings, AllNurses community.

This is my first of likely many posts.

I'm a recent biology grad and am close to being released from my 30 year stint as a dedicated single-mom. It was a good 30 years (when kids weren't fighting over who got to use the bathroom first) but the time has come for mama to spread her wings and fly too. Currently, I'm working on a career trajectory towards becoming a Nurse Practitioner. To that end, I've earned a degree in biology and took a year off to gain some work experience and exposure to various specialties before putting a ring on a program.

Today, I had an interview with a hospital for a number of Nursing Assistant positions they have in various units. The interviewer said one of the more challenging positions is in ICU/Telemetry. I said I'd take it...  Nothing drives me quite like the rush of a good challenge.

To those of you who are working in or have worked for an ICU/Telemetry unit, what was your experience like?

Throw it at me - the good, the bad and the ugly...I've got my catcher's mitt ready to receive whatever's pitched my way! Thanks!
