Hello all, I am interviewing for a inpatient hospice position later this week. I was wondering what I might expect in the way of questions. In particular, hospice specific. Thank you for any input.

I hope I am not too late to help. If so how did you go?
I imagine as hospice can be very emotionally challenging area, they will want to know your reasons for applying in that area.
However can also be clinically challenging, as advanced disease can have many chronic areas for symptom management,
as well as emergencies like bleeding, spinal cord compression etc, so I think expect to display knowledge on that.
Also how you have dealt with difficult families and patients in the past.
Good luck, it is a wonderful area of nursing to work in

if i am not to late.. know how you feel before you walk in about giving pain meds and im talking about high morphine/pain med doses....nurses sometimes have issues with the high doses of meds that are given in a inpatient situation. you need to be absolutely comfortable with comfort care only with no aggressive measures....you also need to know how you feel upfront by seeing death in and out ...be prepared for those type questions....
Apparently I did good enough on the interview. I was told that if the interview went well, I would be offered a shadow day. I was offered a shadow day and am going this afternoon.
