If tuition assistance is still available, and your MOS and unit allow it, take as many general education courses as you can. Also, become a regular visitor at your command's education office. Arrange to take both the SAT and ACT entrance exams, as well as any others that are available. Also, CLEP anything and everything that you can.
Then, when you get to school, visit the campus veteran's assistance office as soon as you can; they should be able to advise you on gettimg your service record evaluated for possible credit from service schools atrended. And, tactfully let your advisor know that you're a veteran; I did this and ot got me out two ridiculous general orientation classes.
Best wishes as you finish your time in the service and begin school.
Hey! Thanks for your service, Im actually looking to do the opposite- finish my BSN and then join the military.
I can tell you that my school is a private university and DOES take the GI bill, so Im sure you wont have a problem with that, many of the RN programs are great about helping Vets.
PM me if you need any help with the application, the program has become increasingly competitive. I have about 2 months left until Im done with my BSN RN so I would be happy to help you with what to expect.
