What EHR software for LTPAC is out there, popular or considered to be the best?

Published

We are starting to research EHR software options and feel like we're a bit late to the game. I was wondering what experiences are out there regarding the software and the respective vendors. If there are good, bad or indifferent experiences, any comments will help. I do not know all of the vendors yet, but will start researching PointClickcare, HealthMEDX, VistaKeane/Keane NetSolutions, WinCare, Lintech and Momentum Healthware. Any feedback is helpful. Thank you in advance.

We have Sigmacare and since I don't have any LTC experience with any other system I can't help you much. I can tell you that training is everything. The company set us up with 2 -day training sessions and we only had lap tops available for half of the group,we had to share! The days we went live were a nightmare. The company provided a tech for each unit (one unit each day) and all they did was disappear with their smart phones so if you got hung up you could not find anyone to help you. Also, admin did not schedule additional nurses on those units on those days to help get the routine care completed-that raised our anxiety exponentially and made the transition even more difficult.I think we all worked 10 to 12 hour days our first couple of days live using the system. Also, admin did NOT include our existing IT staff in the decision, they are not trained on the system and as a consequence when the system goes down they can't help us at all.I do love it for the medpass and ordering meds but the process of actually writing orders is not so user friendly. We are not using the system to it's fullest capabilities yet, don't know what the hold up is with that.I'm proficient at this point but it took my a long time to get there.
