I started as a new grad in an adult ICU 7 months ago. My husband just got orders to Iraq and I've decided to move home to Phoenix with my parents so my babies and I aren't insanely lonely. I've always wanted to do NICU and I thought this would be a good chance to switch. But my question is, what am I? I'm not a new grad anymore, but I don't have enough time in to really be experienced. How does orientation work if you aren't a new grad? Silly question, but I just kind of want to know if I'm marketable, you know?

Phoenix is booming with nursing jobs......but you just can't walk into a NICU. You will have to start like a new grad in NICU. I think you will be marketable in adult ICU but will require a little longer orientation than an experienced nurse, but less than a new grad. Start applying online to hospitals ASAP before the new grads grab the positions.
Best of luck
I'm moving out there the last week in April. Is it too soon to apply yet or should I be hunting now?
Now, then do telephone interviews. New grads will be applying by the last week in April
Hey, thanks. I'll get on it. What are you doing up in the middle of the night? I'm at work. Yipes, don't tell my boss. SLOW night!
