What is a nurse clinician (infirmiere clinicienne)? What would you classicy an ER nurse and an ICU nurse? Are they clinicians?
How are echelons calculated for the pay scale?
Do they have nurse practitionner in Quebec?
Thank you!:redbeathe:bowingpur

Nurse clinicians are usually Masters prepared and work with a specific program, such as respirology, in a case manager capacity. They have fewer transferred functions than nurse practitioners. There may be nurse clinicians in ICU and ER, but the staff nurses who routinely do the patient care in those areas are not considered nurse clinicians. Some places have a specialty premium for nurses working in ICU and ER; for sure Alberta and Manitoba do not. I can't answer for Quebec since I know less than nothing about how they do things there.
