I have been a Hemodialysis nurse (RN) for several years and I'm looking to do something different. I just applied to work at a local prison that is owed by GEO Group in North Florida. I just want to find out there pay scale, benifets, etc. Most importantly I want to know how they treat their employees. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sheri257's response should be required reading for anyone in state or county government who believes that privatization is the solution to their money problems.
I currently work in a state facility that was originally built and operated by one of the largest private prison firms in the country. It was run so badly that the state finally took it over about seven years ago. Incredibly, privatization reared its head again during the last legislative session. The only way that a private company can do what we do for less is to understaff, underpay and deny services - none of which are good options. The state retains legal liability even though they have handed off the day-to-day operations, and they have relinquished direct control. The state can only complain to the corporate office and hope that they do the right thing.
