Hello,
I am considering a position in pain management. Can you tell me what a day in a outpatient pain clinic consists of? I have never worked in a clinic nor have I worked in a outpatient setting. Thanks for the info in advance. Please let me know if you also enjoyed working in a pain clinic. Did you find that the pay was comparable or better than a hospital setting??
Thank you so much in advance:)

I am an RN working in pain management for about 1 year. The pay is comparable to the hospital. I am primarily in the procedure room with the Dr. We do procedures and our policy indicates that an RN must be in the procedure room. However, I also pre-op patients, recover patients, answer phone calls, and check in patients in the clinic. I also do alot of "detective work". LOL I guess that comes with the job.
I will warn you, it is easy to get burned out. You are seeing a wide variety of patients. Some who are in chronic pain and others who may or may not be.
I hope this helps.
