Hello to all! I was wondering if any CRNAs could give me a detailed account of what a day is like. I have shadowed several CRNAs, however I did not follow them from preop to post op. Take for example, an open heart case or any type of general surgery, what types of medication do you use to begin with? To maintain? To end? Do most of you intubate and start pressure lines on your patients prior to the procedure?
Any information is greatly appreciated! :)

Chickenbee,
I'm not criticizing your question, It's a good one, but maybe you need to consider shadowing a CRNA from start to finish (including the nextday post op visit). Doing this allowed me to ask questions throughout the whole process and allowed me to see what actually goes on.
Gump,
That's a great idea. I need to follow a CRNA through the entire process....beginning to end. I will contact the anesthesia group tomorrow.
Great!
Don't forget to let us know how it goes!
