Would you consider a patient that cannot transfer out of bed on their own to be bedfast? For example if they required assistance transferring to a chair.

I'd they can get in a chair I consider them chair fast. If they can walk to the bathroom but only with assistance, they are an assist. Etc.

If patient could bear wait and pivot with transfer they are chair fast. If they need complete assistance to transfer, they are bed bound

Per OASIS guidelines, if a patient can tolerate being up in a chair, even if they must be transferred via hoyer lift, they are chairfast.
