I have been nursing for 2 decades and developed some back issues. I have work restrictions now as a staff bedside nurse. I have the opportunity to apply for a coding type job, I believe it is called a Clinical Documentation Specialist. Can anyone tell me exactly what this job entails and how I might interview to be considered for the position with my med/surg background mainly :paw: Thanks.

Try searching this site for a thread. I found one from last fall that looked very helpful, but I don't know how to provide a direct link to it.

There is a big difference in being and RN who functions in the role as a Clinical Documentation Specialist and a person who just does "coding" of records.

Also programs vary by hospital. Feel free to contact me privately if you would like more information.
