What choice should I make, Lindfield or PCC OCNE?

U.S.A. Oregon

I am seeking my first BS degree with hopes to continue on to a Masters program. I've been excepted at Lindfield's BSN spring 2011 program and PCC's OCNE fall 2010 program which duel enrolls you in the on line OHSU BS degree. The cost is tremendously different, the time frame ends up nearly the same (the longer PCC program starts sooner) and both give you a Bachelors degree. A Bachelors degree is the primary goal above the practice of Nursing.

I loved Lindfield when I visited there, but I dread the debt since I'm 50 years old and won't be able to spread out that cost as long. I worry that the PCC training will not be as good, but I really don't know that for sure. Does any have have any experience with the OCNE program?

Lila,

Were you accepted into Fall or Spring cohort at Linfield?

Lila,

I sent you a private message ;)

Thank you so much andie74! I am very comfortable with my choice now. I appreciated your response so much!

Lila,

You are very welcome! My choice was sealed by many of the things that people on this board said. CuriousMe was instrumental in giving me perspective from a current student's point of view. I'm really happy that I could repay the favor! I'm also really happy your husband thinks I'm very smart :lol2:

I wont be at the CPR class on the 25th. I have to work that day so I took it a few weeks ago. It's a great class though. Chris was my instructor and I thought he did a fantastic job. Anyway, best of luck to you in the future and go celebrate having your decision made!! Congrats!! :yeah:

After much research, I picked the PCC/OHSU path. Thinks my fears have been resolved after talking to acouple of CCC students who have finished the OHSU on-line BS. They were able to do it in one year and are quite happy. It was tough to walk away from Linfield, but a feel pretty confident I'm making the right choice for me. I'm used to having a pretty good income and it will be such a relief not to go into dept at this point in my life.

I feel like I can relax a little now this summer. A class mate of mine who is at UP- BSN says she has gained 20lbs. Since starting such a high demand schedule. I'm going to do my best to take the summer to be in the best shape possible to prepare. Lol

I've started my titers/immunizations. The public health clinic was less than half the price of my personal physician's office prices.

I'm looking forward to meeting my fellow classmates. Congrats to everyone who did so well this year.

Congrats on making a decision haircut7b! I know how hard it is and that part was NOT fun.

Andie76, I officially turned down MHCC and am committed now to the 2 yr, high debt program. :)

Well, unless I get called by OHSU and secretly, I am still waiting for that call on a daily basis. I'll be happy either way. I am sure we will cross paths out in the field someday and look forward to working with you!

Lila

That was quick. I just received the call from OHSU!:yeah:

Congrats Lila!! :yeah:

I just sent you a private message, but wanted to say WOOOO HOOOO!!! Congrats :D:D:D

Thank you! It's 2:30am and I am still giddy!

LOL...It's JUNE and I'm still giddy. Nearly two full months of giddy!! :lol2::lol2::lol2:

Ah, Congrats Lila, I'm thrilled for you. Sad I won't have a buddy to start my classes with at Linfield, but so happy you got what you wanted! See you tomorrow at CPR!

Thanks Jen!!

I know how you feel because I was so looking forward to going to Linfield with you and knowing someone right off the bat. We are just so lucky and they are both excellent schools.

I am looking forward to meeting you tomorrow and we can keep in touch because we are all going to be going through similar training and can bounce things off of each other and we will all probably be running into each other during clinicals or when we are working. Always good to keep a strong network going!

See you tomorrow bright and early!

Lila
