What are my chances?

Nursing Students SRNA

I know this topic has been beaten to death on this forum, but I have never actually asked what my chances would be. I am graduating in May with my RN, BSN...I have a job lined up to work in a Magnet Status facility in the CVICU where I will be titrating drips, using ventilators, VADs, and balloon pumps. My unit does transplants of every kind as well. My nursing school GPA is a 4.0 with my sciences being a 3.7. I havent taken my GRE or obtained my CCRN yet, but plan on doing that very soon. Besides the obvious few years of experience (minimum) and the stellar references that I need to obtain, what do you all think my chances are of getting into CRNA school? Any help would be much appreciated. I was also thinking that I need to start shadowing asap.

Thanks!

Sounds like you're already headed in the right direction. Like you said- shadow, GRE, references. You should get great experiences in your unit - make sure you question alot to build your knowleldge base. Depending on your comfort level in a year or two, you should be ready to apply~

Good luck

you need to interview well. you need to score at least 1200 on the gre. they are not impressed by a "magnet hospital" and you need to learn everything you can. you should shadow and take notes. you should take a couple grad level classes, like stats or something. do the ccrn thing. aacn will send you a bunch of journals every month. read them like the bible because you will need to know all of the current issues in nursing when you go to interview.
