Published

Duke's ABSN Admission Requirements are:

Bachelor Degree

Undergrad gpa of 3.0 or higher on 4.0 scale

completion of all pre-reqs with C or higher

Successful performance on GRE(combined score of 1000 is preferred)

three recent letters of recommendation

strong well written personal statement

completion of interview

intermediate level computing skills

Here is my profile as of today:

Bachelor Degree

Undergrad GPA of 2.4

Great Letters of Recommendations

Great Personal Statement

Great Interview Skills/Personality

Intermediate level computing skills

Here is my course of action:

1.I am starting pre reqs(anatomy and physiology I and II, sociology, anthropology, nutrition, microbiology, statistics, psychology, developmental psychology. I AM going to make all A's in these classes, but this will only bring my GPA up to approx. 2.6) I would have to take another 17 classes and make all A's to bring my cumulative GPA to a 3.0.

2. I plan on taking the GRE during or before summer 2011.

3. I am getting the following certifications by the time I submit my application: CNA I, Phlebotomy Technician, Medication Aid, BLS(Basic Life Support)

4. I also plan on working as a CNA/volunteering to gain experience.

I ideally would like to apply for Jan 2012 matriculation. Please give me upfront answers.

With your GPA as low as it is, whether or not you're considered will likely hinge on your GRE score. You're probably going to want to score as high as you possibly can - as in above or well above average. I would recommend studying for the exam in earnest.

Just looked at Duke's website and read the detailed admissions requirements for the ABSN. The fact that they're willing to waive the GRE requirement for applicants with an undergraduate GPA of 3.4 or higher seems to support the suggestion that your particular application will hinge on your GRE score. Find a good GRE prep book/class/tutor. I'm willing to bet that an exceptional score will be your "in". Good luck.
