For the pass four days my heart seems to be skipping beats throughout the day. Sometimes it happens a couple of times within a minute or up to every 20 min and longer stretches in between. I have been on Spironolactone 100mg for more than a year. I take a multivitamin daily and chromium daily. I just started taking birth control pills and glipizide about three weeks ago.
I will be calling my doc that prescribed these medications for me tomorrow, but I wonder if anyone has any heads up on anything else I should be considering. I thought about the birth control causing a blood clot. Also I have not been taking in any more caffeine than usual.
I want to thank everyone for taking out the time to read this post and giving me any info possible. You guys are the best. :kiss

Sorry you're having this problem, but I would indeed contact you PP, and let them know what is happening. I would suspect of your glipizide, and oral contraceptives. Were these meds filled at the same pharmacy, and prescribed by the same PP???
I sincerely hope this is sorted out quickly, and that you're free of these sx soon:).

Sorry to hear that you're having these palpitations-I know how distressing these must be for you, as my husband has been having them many times every day for months now.I would urge you to see your MD asap -not because there's likely to be anything wrong with your heart, but so you can have some peace of mind, as well as to receive a thorough check-up.My husband is slender,a non-smoker,has no family history of heart disease, and has no other risk factors for heart disease. He was worked up by our GP and then was sent to a cardiologist for consult(largely for his peace of mind, not because she thought anything was really wrong). He was stress tested, Holter-monitered,and his heart was ultrasounded -all was normal. The cardiologist could not pinpoint a cause but definitely had no concerns and did not think my husband was at any increased risk for rhythm disturbances in the future. The pvcs he was having stopped when he began taking an antianxiety drug (which wasn't begun because of this symptom). Alas, the palpitations have returned despite still being on the psych. drug -seeming to shoot holes in my theory that the palps were stress-related. All the best to you -give us an update, if you would, once you've seen your MD.

Thank you for the reply Brownms46 and Heartsgalore, I appreciate your concern for my welfare.
The Glipizide was filled at a pharmacy, but the oral contraceptive was a sample given to me by my Gyn Dr., and both were prescribed by him. The name of this contraceptive is Ovcon 35.
Hopefully I will get some answers today, I will be sure to post an update. Also I would like to say I hope everyone has a very good week at work. God Bless!
