What is the best source for TEAS VI?

Published

Hi everyone,

I took the TEAS test last January and I score 72 in total:

Math 90

English 70

Reading 60

Science 63

I studied the ATI study guide and took a look at Mometrix ATI TEAS secret study guide.

My school requires 78 or higher and I need at least 85 to become more competitive.

Any suggestions on which book should I study?

I like the Kaplan ati book.

I scored a 97.3% on the TEAS, and I took it earlier this month, so it's still very fresh.

I studied the ATI TEAS manual, but I also purchased the online study module package that is also sold by ATI. It's expensive, but it's worth it, especially if you are looking to improve your scores. It covers some topics in more depth than the ATI manual does, and provides a lot more practice questions. Before you start a section, the online modules program makes you to take a pretest, analyzes your weak areas based on your answers and score, and forces you to review those sections before moving on. The package I bought also includes two practice TEAS tests, which also helped a ton.

With that being said, simply studying the manual and the online modules isn't enough. If you want to improve your science score, you need to use outside resources. I used Khan Academy videos on Youtube to review Human A&P (organ systems, basic cellular structures and functions, etc.) and basic Chemistry. They're free and they doing an outstanding job of covering pretty much everything else the ATI TEAS manual and modules don't. The same goes for English and Reading. Make sure you're looking at outside resources if there's something you're unclear or unsure about.

I've heard good things about Mometrix, but I personally didn't use them while studying for the TEAS.

I also used an app called Pocket Prep ATI TEAS. It has tons of practice questions, and it also provides explanations for all of the answers, even if you get the question right. During my free time, I would just get on my phone and practice going through questions. It covers all the areas that would normally be tested on on the TEAS.

Good luck! I hope this helps!

Thank you for all the points.

I am studying Mometrix right now. Although it is more detailed than the ATI grey book, it is still not enough. I have a total GPA of 4.0 and if I don't get into my program it is just because of my low score in the TEAS test  :(

Are you talking about the ATI Smartprep study package or basic package?

I was wondering if the packages are useful or not and couldn't find any reviews on them. So, you recommend them?

I actually found the exam very hard the previous time I took it. There were questions in the science part that were not even familiar to me. (they looked liked bio lab or sth)

I purchased the study package (not the basic). The exam was easier than I expected, but I think it's just because I went very in depth with biology/A&P, and because I'm a Biology major. If you don't have a really strong background in Bio, I highly, HIGHLY recommend Khan Academy. They cover everything you need to know. Study the manual and cover the same topics via Khan Academy. They go more in depth.

Also, keep in mind that about five or six questions on the TEAS science section are going to be pretest questions that do not contribute to your overall score.

PM me if you have more questions!
