Hello everyone!

My husband is a new grad & I will be come november. He is orginally from Tx and we are looking in to moving back as soon as I graduate.

What areas are looking better for LPN's? We are looking into the San Marcos & Arlington areas.. any sugestions would be great!

Thanks in advance!

Wow, thanks for all of the responses !! So greatly appreciated :)

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

Arlington and the entire Dallas/Fort Worth area is flooded with new grad LVNs who are struggling to find work.

Austin or Houston --- Never San Antonio. Job market real slow in most large cities. You may have to go to a small town such as Luling or Eagle Pass to find work at a nursing home. Houston is really dangerous

BTW, Texas refers to its basic nurses as LVNs, not LPNs. This might help when conducting your future job searches. :)

IMO There are a ton of available jobs in Houston! I know of atleast 5 brand new LTC/Nursing homes begging for LVN/LPN's. Heck on Craigslist there are 25 new listings for openings in the last 48 hrs.....

Never gave up!

Probably focus on the Hoston area. Here in west TX (small city of 100k) - a friend of mine is the supply chain coordinator and just hired an EXPERIENCED LVN to be a clerk for $8/hr...they couldnt find her a spot in the hospital...so not looking good out here.

I would recommend Austin, they have new LTACs & Rehabs and plenty of older facilities. they usually pay 21-22$/hr but at the upscale retirement/rehabs they pay a bit better. I make 24$/hr at an upscale rehab. I have about 2yrs experience. Hope this helps. PLUS Austin cost of living is not bad at all && LIVE MUSIC :specs:
