I received a phone call saying that I have received admission into the WGU Prelicensure program.
However, after reading over some materials I'm a little confused. Now I'm not exactly sure what I've been accepted into, but it sounds like the "pre nursing term".
What is the pre nursing term?
If I pass the Foundations in Nursing Skills performance exam, what are my chances of getting admission into the actual clinical nursing program? How competitive is it from pre nursing to the clinical nursing program?
And lastly, if I pass the performance exam, what happens if there aren't any available clinical space? Will I be on a waitlist or would I need to reapply for another term?
Thanks for reading, I'm just a little confused on how admissions work.

You have a seat in the prelicensure program and need to finish nursing skills first. If they accepted 20 applicants and 3 fail to pass nursing skills I assume the prelicensure program then has 17 students in that cohort... I would assume it is the same way the entire program, because you can only proceed as long as you pass the classes as you go.
This is pretty much how most medical programs work, if you fail 1 class in the semester you cannot proceed but instead have to wait till next round to attempt the failed class and if you do pass (this would most likely be a spot in the January cohorts classes) you are now in that cohort and not your original cohort. I am not sure this is how wgu does it but it is exactly how the nursing program at my local colleges work. Unless by fluke several students fail the same term, there is usually the expectation and provisions made to allow a student to retake their failed class in the following cohorts term (I have yet to read where wgu does not allow a student to reattempt a failed class)
