Has anyone been through this program? I'd appreciate some personal insight if you have!

I work in this program and would be happy to answer anything I can.

Hello!

I am currently completing my pre-requisites for the program; I'm almost done. I have not completed Biochemistry or Pharmacology yet, but I read that I can complete those once I am accepted into the program- is this correct?

What is the clinical rotation like? I have seen the sample rotation schedule posted on the website, but it is a bit confusing. I currently work 40 hours a week at Memorial Hermann Memorial City. I have heard that this is a clinical site; is that still true? If so, is it possible to complete clinical hours after a regular work day shift? Are weekend clinicals also an option?

Sorry for this bombardment, but I've been looking at so many nursing school options and WGU seems to be the best fit for me; almost too good to be true!

Thanks for your time!

Yes, you can complete Biochem and Pharm during the first pre-clinical term. Most everyone does.

Clinicals are scheduled- and not by you. You work 1:1 with a nurse, and you work their schedule. BUT clinicals are in compresssed timeframes. So for example CASAL 1 (the first md-surg course) you have 60 hours in two weeks- or five, 12-hour shifts. More than likely, you will need to use some PTO to get those hours in and still work. But it's doable.

I don't think you get a choice of clinical site except to choose the city.

I hope this has been helpful.
