WGU MSN Education - Doable with family, work etc.?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hello,

I am thinking about going back to school, and from what I've seen and read, seems to be the most efficient and cost-effective way to go. Is there anyone here who has gone through the 38 CU Education program? Is it doable with a family at home, and while working? I have three kids ages 10, 8, and 2, and work part-time (6-7 shifts in two weeks). I want to get my Masters but I do not want the kids to feel it.... nursing school took a lot of my time and attention away from them and it was nice to be done for a while. However, I know I am going to want to go back to school sooner or later, so if this is the right program for m, I don't want to procrastinate any more than necessary.

How much practical work is involved in this program? I read somewhere the capstone project takes six months - what exactly is it? Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks a lot,

Kat

I got my MSN through while working 30+ hours a week. I also have two young kids with special needs. My job at the time (a school nurse) gave me plenty of down time in which to catch up on school work. I finished all my coursework in less than 6 months, and it took another 3 or so to get my capstone done. If I had gotten started on the IRB process earlier, I could definitely have gotten my capstone done within the first term. If you are self motivated, this is totally doable!
