Western Health Sciences - Direct Entry MSN - Fall 2013

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

I didn't see a thread, so I started one.

I am planning on applying this fall for the Direct Entry MSN program. Anyone else?

Losing hope every minute that pass by. Considering that Western was my first choice, this is just utterly heartbreaking.

Same here ktonic :( still hoping for the best though

I feel that the entire application/interview process has been frustrating and chaotic, which I would not have expected after the Preview Days. Those seemed to be executed so well that I've been a little let down to be honest. I hope this was just an off year for them.

This all seems very odd and out of character for Western. Very confusing...

I completely agree with you BlueEye85!

Don't lose too much hope ktonic! Last year the second round of acceptance emails went out about a week after the first from the looks of last year's thread. I also had a thought; maybe they have already received several declinations of acceptance from the group they emailed yesterday. That might explain why they are inviting more people to interview. They do want a an alternate list of 60 should everyone decline their offer. They are probably anticipating more declinations from the current group of accepts and need some time to figure out the second group of accepts, and need to make sure they still have enough alternates.

I hope anyway...

Welcome newcomers!

I like your guys' optimism. The anxiety is getting to me!

It is appearing that we won't be getting any news today, hopefully tomorrow will be the day for the rest of us! Also, Ceci81 don't you think though that they could have found a list of 60 alternates from the 250 people already interviewed? I have to agree with everyone that hearing they are interviewing more people and considering I have not heard anything makes me feel as if I must not have been good enough that they are considering people they previously rejected over me. It really makes no sense.

Yes...lets not loose hope! I think if we still haven't heard anything, we still have the possibility of getting accepted!

Raminajulia-

Don't think of it that way. I am sure you're a competitive applicant and that rejection e-mail could have been sent out to me on accident OR I was in a list of "maybe interview later if in case people back out" pool.

I didn't even put my best foot forward in my personal statement so I am not surprised that I never received an invite earlier like you guys. My grades and volunteer experience only speak for my abilities but my personal statement was s****. I read over it after I sent it and laughed at myself- told myself that I will rewrite it for Marquette. According to my professor, Western's essay wasn't as bad as I made it sound like but I would say I wasn't satisfied with it.

Don't generate negative feelings. EVER. They will only resonate with you in the long run. You are good enough.

@raminajulia I don't think they interviewed quite that many people (yet). I know several groups had no-shows and they cancelled the last Saturday interview date they had listed in Feb. If you add a significant number of declinations in to the mix, the might need more options.

Maybe some of those accepted may be declining due to the possible discontinuation of the FNP track?

I'm a bit discouraged too, but trying to hang on to a little bit of hope.

I'm in this year's cohort, and there is no such thing as a possible discontinuation of the FNP track, and there is still no set law that requires those who are becoming NPs after 2015 to get a DNP. Right now, it's still a recommendation. I will be on the FNP track as well.

@sonya I didn't mean discontinuing the FNP track in general. At the presentation during the interview sessions they told us they were considering omitting direct entry into the FNP specialty (we'd only be able to choose from the other specialties). They gave us their reasoning for doing that but also said it was not a final decision. They said it might start with this cohort.
