I am thinking about applying to WSCN, but I have read some bad things about the school in previous threads on this site. Anyone know if it has gotten better in the past 2 years?

I took the TEAS test there & want to apply for the evening/weekend program. It's kind of a drive for me, but worth it since I work during the day full time.

I myself have not been there, but a bunch of my friends in class went to their hospital for clinical and everyone had HORRIBLE experiences. Every single person I spoke to said they would never step foot in that hospital ever again. not to sound too over dramatic. They said the staff was rude and absoultely refused to teach. The nurses were condisending (sp!) the techs were rude and expected the nursing students to do their jobs for them. One of the girls told me they asked a nurse a question and she said "it's not my job to answer your questions, go ask your instructor". Just a heads up. I'm not sure how the program goes, but if you'll be doing your clinicals in their hospital i would be very very cautious! Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

My boyfriend's sister went to WSCN, and said it was a horrible experience. She said that the nurse instructors are all nurses on the floor, and when she asked for office hours, they all said "well, I get here at 5am to start my shift, so you'll have to come then". She said lines were ridiculous for students waiting to speak to instructors. And to top it all off, the school is expensive!!!

I did my clinicals there when I got my CNA last year, and one of the nurses was flat out rude. But then again, there were two other nurses who were great, and very nice. You will find rude people everywhere I guess.

My boyfriend applied to West Sub's accelerated program, and had to apply three times, as the admissions people messed up his application over and over and over again. All in all, I have heard that people have had horrible experiences with West Sub.:(

^ i can vouch for the disorganized admissions part.......they mailed me the WRONG teas score! they mailed me someone else's! they need to be more careful mailing out private information like that. i also emailed the other day to ask about the work program/scholarship where if you work for two years at their hospital they pay back your loans, but the lady was really rude. she got a snobby attitude and informed me that i would have to have over a 3.4 gpa and a few other things. i have almost a 4.0, so i don't know what the attitude was for. i'm just going to moraine valley, they can keep that mess.

I have yet to hear anything positive about West Suburban College. I have a friend who works at West Suburgan Hospital and wants to go back to school and the only way they'll pay is if she goes to WSC. She wants to get a different job just so she can go to school somewhere else. If I was looking at schools I'd stay as far away from that school as possible.

West Suburban College is amazing, how such a small school can be so disorganized? I would like to say something positive about that school but sadly I can't. Some of the teachers are just miserable, same are great but majority... they just don't care about students.
