Do you really want to pay $132,000 in tuition for a degree and a license that does not guarantee you a job in today's economy? There is no nursing shortage in 2011!

Here is a brief summary. I looked into this school as an alternative in case I do not get accepted into some of the programs I applied for.
If you already have a BA/BS degree (like I do) and trying to start a new career this is not for you! I say this because the tuition is over 100K, even if you finish most of your pre-reqs. lf you are just finishing high-school maybe this path can work because the length of time to finish this program is 3+ years. However, the tuition is very steep as well. But if you compare it to a 4-year college it doesn't sound so bad.
So if you are trying to start a new career and cannot afford the time or money this program is not for you!

Hi there! I too have looked into this school and was about to enroll when the idea of having to pay that much money back made me sick to my stomach, LOL, so I decided to keep on doing what I am doing and hope for the best. But what I have heard from some of the sudents there is that it is a good school with great teachers. One student said that passing the NCLEX for her was super easy compared to the classes she had to take. If you did go to a Cal State for a bachelors I think you would still be getting by with half the tuition costs of what West Coast would charge you. Good luck whichever route you decide to take!

Other than tuition another down fall is that they are NOT WASC accredited. If this is important to you then look into Master programs that you are interested and verify if they accept credits from WCU. (I rec you get this in writing.) I thought about attending this April but I agree with mjgarcia the tuition made me sick to my stomach. I thought it through for 2 weeks and decided to pull back. Right now this is not the route I would take. This is just me but I will wait for the WASC accreditation to go through mean while applying to other schools. Until that happens WCU will be my last resort. =]

I did the same thing, I applied in December and went through the financial aid. Some of my classes transferred but one thing that ****** me off was to retake microbiology (4 units class) that i took at a community college because they said it was different from theirs. I studied hard for this class to get A, so retaking it was another thing and their tuition was very high=lifetime loan like paying for a house lol. My overall tuition was 110k, and by the time i will repay, it might be 180k. I had to think twice coz I was suppose to start in January 2011.
nomsa- where are you applying now?? I can totally relate to you with WCU. But I do have to say, I'm still keeping them an option in case I don't get in anywhere else. If I don't get in a program in 2 years I have already lost 110k (which is also my tuition) and more and still not making any money at that.
I applied to Golden West, Cypress, Citrus and Cerritos College. Still waiting for responses
