So far, WCU is the least expensive private school in Socal that I came across with. What is the BSN Nursing program like there? Since it is compressed in 9 weeks for classes, do you actually still learn about the subject? It seems too fast to put in a semester of learning into 9weeks. If I don't get accepted into CSU nursing school, I'm considering WCU. I want to get my BSN right away but I don't want to have to go through it fast if in the end, the material doesn't stick to me. Nursing will be my profession so I want to know what I am doing when I am in the field. Is 9weeks really effective in learning about nursing?

Hey Kitty. I had a friend who graduated from the WCU ADN program, and she said she liked it. She did basically all her pre-requisites there, so it was a pretty hefty price, and I know she got it covered mostly with loans. But I know she said the 9 week courses were pretty good, and she retained the info pretty well.

I was in the process of applying to the Ontario campus for their BSN program, even to the point of taking the assessment test and passing. All I had to do was fill out loan info and finalize everything. My main thought process was that I had almost all of my pre-requisites left, and it would be the fastest way to get them done without waiting for CC classes.

I ended up not completing the paper work, and moved back home, managed to get all my pre-requisites, and am now applying for schools. I just couldn't fathom taking on that huge of a price with a previous bachelors loans under my belt, and also with even difficulty for the new grad nurses in finding jobs, and just didn't want the huge loans hanging over my head. But still, WCU might be a great fit for a lot of people.

I've always known WCU to be the most exspensive vocational school in the UNITED STATES!

Specializes in hospice :P.

I have a friend who graduated from WCU-OC (ASN degree) late last year. He said he didn't have a tough time with the teachers and class schedules. He highly recommended me to go there since I've been thinking about going back to school for quite some time now. Unfortunately, they don't have the 2 year program anymore. And indeed, WCU is pretty expensive, but it's all worth it in end ! =)
