Higher2010,
I am so happy that I could be of some help to you when you needed it. I want to wish you congratulations on a job well done. I am very proud of all of our May support group. I just feel honored to have shared my failures and triumphs with all of you. I will continue to check on all May test takers until this month is completed.
Shopaholic42488,
The nclex exam has a lot of various topics on it, depending on the way you answer the questions. Just review your content, focus on lab values, prioritization, delegation, infection control, and know that every topic is fair game. I have to say that all of what you have been told about the nclex can vary, but knowing these things that I just mentioned would be what a new nurse on the floor should know. Like Marlene Hurst says, "You are considered a new nurse with only two weeks of experience." You are not expected to know everything. Think of what your instructors told you was important to know and what illnesses are normally seen. This is what you should definitely know. You will do fine. Check out the infection control neumonics and stay focused on the prize. I wish you all good luck.
Grace02,
I understand perfectly how you feel, but rest assured that you are not alone. I felt like I wasn't ready each time I took the test(3X's). I want to let you know that you have to embrace this exam before you can pass it. You can not let fear hinder you from completing this goal. If you are not ready because you haven't been studying, then that is a different story.
Sometimes you have to take a break in order to regain energy to study. It is okay to take a couple of days to just have some "you" time. I would study Monday-Friday 2-3hrs during the day and an hour at night. You can't retain your information if you are studying continuously for several hours. Your brain needs time to reboot. I don't know everything, so if there is a particular reason why you have lost focus that I am not aware of, please feel free to PM me if you want to discuss it further. I am here as a supportive colleague. Take care and you will pass. You just have to have faith and stay motivated. Good luck.
Hello everyone I am new 2 allnurses.com. I have a question about a review course. I am planning to start a review course called excell nursing review in chicago, il. i was wondering if this review course worth the money? Or is dr. martin review better? I am taking nclex pn.
I took the Martin Review and I enjoyed every minute of it, it really prepared me for the NCLEX. She is very serious about the review and teaches you principles for becoming a great nurse, her strategies worked for me. Her review is mostly contents so if you feel you need to review for the test she will be perfect. I have a friend who is planning to take the test in Review in June, so if you need a roomate please let me know...Good luck.
GOOD LUCK BOOCHICA!!!!I also want to wish all of our fellow May test takers the best of luck. Higher2010, I have a friend who also took the Martin Review and felt that it really helped her. Stay positive and focused.
