Weirdest "Believe it or not" Stories

Nurses General Nursing

Thought I would start a "most bizzare" story thread, not for the faint of heart. But then we are nurses, nothing makes us sick, huh? This is a true story as reported on CNN:

A woman was working in a post office in Calif. One day she licked the envelopes and postage stamps instead of using a wet sponge. That very day the lady cut her tongue on the envelope. a week later, she noticed an abnormal swelling of her tongue. She went to the doctor, and they found nothing wrong. Her tongue was not sore or anything. A couple of days later, her tongue started to swell more, and it began to get really sore :p so sore, that she could not eat. She returned to the hospital, and demanded something be done. the doctor took an x-ray of her tongue, and noticed a lump.

He prepared her for minor surgery. When he cut her tongue open, a live roach crawled out. there were roach eggs on the seal of the envelope and the egg was able to hatch inside her tongue because of her saliva. It was a warm and moist environment.....Eeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwww.......Don't think I will EVER lick an envelope or stamp again. Pass the Glue stick or wet sponge please. ........Next.....

eeeyooooo !!!!hand me a k basin quick!

Hmmmm......that's a real oldie. I got it in a chain E-mail last year.

What a warm mothers day story that roach will have to pass down to other anthropods!

I believe the saliva would have digested the egg before a week had passed.

I don't think the shell of the imature roach would be dense enough to show up on an x-ray.

None the less, what a wonderfuly creepy story.

Keep them coming.I love that kind of stuff! :p
