Hi everyone!! I've made it past week 2 in the LVN program I am attending!! It's fast paced but great! I do notice that my life is now all about nursing. Study study study is the key! So far i have had 3 tests and got two Bs and a C!! I know it will get better!

I just had to share my excitement! I hope you all have had a good week!

Good for you! The time really goes by quickly in this program. I am 2 months in, with 9 to go. You are right, your life becomes all about nursing, it takes over. We had our 7th exam today. It has been tough, but we will make it. best of luck to you, study, study and then study more! I average about 6-8 hrs of study per day, and that is after class, and after clinicals. You can do it, stay focused.:cheers:

Thank do much and good luck to you as well!!!

Thanks for the post! I start my LVN program in a few weeks and I am BEYOND excited! A little nervous as well, any suggestions for what to expect??

@acarrothers. Hi! The best advice that I can give you, get and stay organized. There is such a vast amount of information that you will need to learn, being organized is the only way to get through this. Time mangement is really important, especially during clinicals.I am not sure what your schedule will look like, but I go to school full time, mon through fri, 8-3, with clinicals on tues and wed. We have A&P, Nursing fundamentals, Practical vocational nursing, Pharmacology, and I refer to clinicals as my 5th subject. I have different notebooks for every subject, and I keep all of my powerpoints, notes etc with the same subject. I know this seems like common sense, but it really helps to be organized, it's the biggest issue with students, In my opinion. Do not wait until the last minute to do papers, required readings, etc. Study for exams, and give yourself plenty of time to do so. Don't cram the night before, yes, it may get you through the test, but memorizing will not help you much in nursing, you need to know the information you learn in theory so that you can apply it to clinical setting. It is very difficult for me, and it takes alot of time and effort, but I knew this going in. I have a B average (93,yes thats only a B) however, I work very hard to maintain this.

if there is anything you need me to be more specific about, please let me know. By the way, I am 46 yrs old, so I have been out of school for almost 30 years! Good luck to you, let me know how you are doing.

@acarrothers

Staying organized, never fall behind and ask questions if you don't understand. Good luck to you and I hope you keep us posted on your journey!!
