2 week orientation a must?

Published

Hi i posted this on another forum but getting no responses. I'm currently a senior for my RN BSN. and I want to get a job as a CPA, but i have a question as to what I should do.

almost all the position descriptions say that the job requires a 2 week minimum orientation which is full-time monday-friday. Since Im full time student, I cannot fullfill this. Are there any ways around it that I can work out with the hospital or am I just not competent to apply at all if I cannot give the time for orientation because of school?

If i shouldn't even apply, then what are my options? As I would like to get a CPA position so that I would have a better chance of getting hired there as an RN.

Thanks!

I wondered the same thing. I am starting a new PCT position at the end of the month and the recruiter at the hospital told me it is a MUST.

You'll have to talk with the hospital to find out if there is any flexibility there.

At my hospital, there is a little flexibility, but not much in the orientation options. Most students must either start work in the summer when they are not taking classes or start in December when they can work their orientation in over the holiday break.

Orientation is important. If you don't get a proper orientation, it can lead to lots of problems on the job.
