Good morning!
Joe, hope you have a better day.
J22, glad you were able to get your son to the airport and enjoy the day. That's what must be nice about retirement, being able to make your time with such stuff.
Dianah, hope you continue to sleep well. Glad the power wasn't off too long.
Ado, hope the side effects of the flu shot aren't too bothersome and are gone by now.
Stars, I'm sorry you're feeling so stuck and not being able to get stuff done.
I was able to visit with best friend for a while. He's doing good. The roads were really passable and traffic flowing smoothly. All the homes on the neighborhood streets had property on the side of the road to be picked up, furniture, carpets, mattresses was a sad sight to see. Will probably take many trucks to pick up all the stuff. I stopped by the beach and a whole lot of debris and what we call "sea squirts" have washed up in droves causing a stench. (Here's an article from 2020 that talks about it and I noticed same thing yesterday: https://www.tampabay.com/news/pinellas/2020/08/26/smell-that-smell-pass-a-grille-beach-has-decomposing-sea-squirts/
My 2018 Corolla doesn't have a navigator but I use my phone when I need one anyway. Best friend's sister sent him some cash from the sale of their late parent's home when she moved into a continuing care community a few months ago and best friend is paying cash for the car before even the insurance money from his totaled car comes in. Must be nice.
Haven't heard from my boss yet that I can return from vacation other than it looks like the days I want are available but will confirm. I'm real sure I'll be working but also I wouldn't care if they said "we're covered and don't need you". LOL
The gym finally got power the yesterday and is back open for business. I noticed some dark houses next door and looked on the app and there are five residences there without power still. Didn't look like anyone was there and hopefully they have a cool place to stay. A friend just got power after five days but like me didn't leave because of his dogs. It's still really hot and muggy.
Other than the gym I'm making a run to the Asian market for some things. Need some hot Thai chilies for a dipping sauce.
Have a great day.
Amazingly, I heard back from step-dgt, and they had no problems with flooding or power loss or anything; and par for the course, she only answered my questions and didn't ask about Nannie and me. So no requests for $ or a place to stay. PHEW! Thank goodness for that.
Slept well last night. Got up at 9:45 to feed Momo and open the drapes in the den, had a few sips of coffee, then went right back up to my bed to sleep; woke up at noon. Nannie already up in her chair, so I gave her breakfast and pills; will get her up to get dressed in a few minutes.
Never even thought to look at the VP's debate; guess there will be lots about that on- line when I get to look at the news-feed.
All for now---
The good news is that BiL is NOT going with SiL and her sister, to Oak Island (not Myrtle Beach) so he will be home to call on, if needed.
The same-old-same-old news is that Nannie did not recognize her son when he came by to mow the lawn, and she did not recognize him when he went by the back door with the riding lawn 'moaner'. She called him by the across-the-street neighbor's name, a name she has not recognized in at least 6 years. Besides which the neighbor she mentioned (who she always thought 'wanted' her) is so much shorter and way fatter than BiL. She frowned every time she asked me and I answered about who was out in her backyard, and said, "MY son??" and then it was "What's that noise?" (The lawn moaner or the washing machine, take your choice.) Then when I brought out her laundry that I left in the dryer last night, to start folding, she asked, "Where did you get all that?" when I told her. I said I have been doing her laundry for the last 8 years. "YOU have?? MY laundry??" (Yes, I have and yes it is.) Then when I was spot treating my clothes she said "Where did you get all those clothes?" I told her it was MY laundry that I was going to do now. "YOUR laundry?" She is restless and irritable, so I am going to make her an early supper (it's 4:30) so she will have something to keep her mouth busy.
5 +1/2 hours until Nannie's bedtime!
Shortly after that she started fiddling with her jacket, pulling the sleeves, buttoning and unbuttoning, and then unbuttoning the empty pockets which she has already done and checked half a dozen times. I asked her why she was buttoning and then unbuttoning her jacket, and she said she just wanted something to do. So I got out her 'fiddle" piece of material with the buttons and zipper and shoelaces, and she did 'play' with it for about 15 minutes, but just now set it aside, and rebuttoned her jacket.....which she is now unbuttoning again. I need to NOT look over there to see what she is up to, or I will go nutz.

Tweety hope you were able to get over there to see your friend
NJ22 glad their flight got sorted out
Dianah glad the power is back on
Ado glad there were few side effects from the flu shot
Stars that does sound like a frustrating day
Work wasn't quite as bad as yesterday, although it did start with a bunch of voicemails, followed by a bunch of emails and documents. And a new case. Hoping things will settle down today
Wasn't quite feeling myself, for the 2nd day in a row, kinda drained and down. Did feel better by the end of the day
Rest of the day was pretty ordinary. Went to the grocery store and exercised. Had some issues sleeping last night, felt both warm and chilly. Figured it might be a delayed vaccine reaction, took some Tylenol and was able to sleep
Today should hopefully be quieter at work. Nothing unusual going on after work
Will be cooler today, in the low 70s
